Job title:  SENIOR TRAINING OFFICER
Job description: 

To provide support to line management in both the development and execution of operator and Maintenance training in accordance with established company standards to ensure the availability of a competent and timely workforce at optimum costs. 

  • Contribute to the development and implemention of training strategies, budgets and plans that are in accord with Best T & D Practice and optimise the returns on annual training expenditure.

  • Develop, implement and monitor the effectiveness of Operator and Maintainance training programmes in accordance with Best T & D Practice Standards for Training, which address and satisfy the needs of the organisation.

  • Closely monitor the progress of training participants to ensure satisfactory performance results and take timely and appropriate action as required to ensure the delivery of competent employees at the conclusion of the training program, as per line management's manpower requirements.

  • Participate in the selection of new employees who will, in the first instance, undertake Operator or Maintainance training to ensure the most capable applicants are appointed.     

  • Maintain an effective and robust system for training records to ensure this information is available in a timely and effective manner.

  • Adopt Training's cost control systems to collect all training costs to ensure early detection of unfavorable variances.

  • Co-ordinate the placement and on-job action learning plans for Vacational Students undertaking work experience at Somilo operations.

  • Support staff to ensure competence, optimum employee performance and take appropriate action to remedy any substandard employee performance or behaviour by use of effective performance management system.

  • Provide leadership, training and support to ensure that employees and contractors comply with safety and environmental standards that exceed industry practice and any applicable legislative requirements.

  • Ensures that employees under his/her control gain new skills and achieve their full potential by developing and implementing effective training and mentoring programmes.

  • Continually review every aspect of training activities to ensure that opportunities to add value and enhance shareholder wealth are identified and implemented.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:  A Trades Certificate or the highest Operator Competency in the respective area.
Experience: 

Five or more years' industry experience in the mining sector with at least three years in a training/development or a leadership/supervisory role. 

Previous experience in the successful development and implementation of maintainance training programs is essential.
 
Previous experience working in a remote location is essential with African experience being highly desirable.

Remuneration commensurate with experience.


A working knowledge of French would be an advantage but is not a requirement.

Job title:  SHORT-TERM MINE PLANNING ENGINEER
Job description: 

The short-term mine planning engineer at the Loulo project will be responsible for providing the pivotal role between production and strategic planning, by providing tactical plans and simulations of the open pit mining operations. His/her responsibilities will include:

  • Providing on-time accurate weekly plans in line with the monthly and LoM strategic plans.

  • Ensuring adherence to the short term plans by the mining contractor.

  • Providing localised pit and dump design adjustments as and when required.

  • Providing QA of the mining operation in relation to adherence to design.

  • Providing on-going simulations of the mining operation to test the validity of short and longer-term plans, as and when required.

  • Supporting the geotechnical department in analysis of wall stability and management of slope angles in conjunction with the Chief Mine Planning Engineer.

  • Providing training for local staff.

  • Improving quality standards in short-term planning.

  • Working in close collaboration with survey to ensure plans are delivered on time on accurate information.
Candidate profile: 
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in open pit mining, of which a minimum of 2 years involved in production simulation, time study, or short-term planning.

  • Survey and/or Geotechnical experience will be regarded as a distinct asset.

  • Very good computer skills, and advanced knowledge of at least 1 mining software package. GEMS (Gemcom) proficiency is a distinct advantage. MS Office expertise a requirement.

  • Team player with a solution-providing attitude; self-motivated and good organisational skills.
Position profile: 

The position is based on a 2-year contract in West Africa on a remote mine site with full amenities available on an ex-pat basis. The successful candidate will be expected to train local staff in his/her duties to ensure continuity on end of contract.

Remuneration commensurate with experience.

Job title:  SECTION MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Location:  In design phases in a location of choice ie. Johannesburg, during building and commissioning, on site, generally meaning West Africa
Short description:  The incumbent will be responsible for directing, controlling, monitoring and auditing the design, building and commissioning of engineering aspects of new gold mines and plant expansions. In addition he/she will, on request, advise maintenance management on the company's operations on mechanical maintenance.
Qualification:  Degree or equivalent.
Experience:  A minimum of 2 years post degree / Diploma experience.
Additional information:  A working knowledge of French would be an advantage but is not a requirement.

Job title:  SENIOR GENERATIVE GEOLOGIST
Location:  Africa
Short description:  The successful candidate will be able to generate ideas and models; be familiar with Archean and Proterozoic gold systems and geology; have a track record of effective target generation; be able to interpret Landsat and Aeromagnetic data; possess good software skills and be able to be able to integrate and process large data sets.
Qualification:  A degree in Geology preferably to MSc or Phd level
Experience:  8 years plus, including effective implementation of exploration programmes

Short description:  The incumbent will be responsible for directing, controlling, monitoring and auditing the design, building and commissioning of new gold processing plants and plant expansions. In addition he/she will be responsible for advising production management on the processing of gold.
Qualification:  Degree or equivalent with a preference for a post-graduate degree in mineral processing or chemical engineering
Experience:  A minimum of 10 years experience in gold plant management and gold plant design
Additional information:  A working knowledge of French would be an advantage
